Spam Posters

We are getting a lot more members who are posting spam, the posts get removed and some members who continue to post spam get banned, It takes me seconds to remove posts and ban members so anybody who spends a lot of time writing spam posts are just wasting their time.
Madbug made a post about spam, please read it Spam Posting

RE: Spam Posters
Ok, so i have just read the announcement!

Does this not miss the point of the forum! Advertise your website?!?! I know myself i have 3 websites..and if I’m talking about them then yes i want to link in the subject as not every one reads to the bottom! or even bothers to look @ your signature! as i can tell you for now i have personally only clicked one signature in the whole of this forum!

but i suppose when you have got people clicking spam on post that have a few links in...like someone did to me! after yes it took a long time to write and i WASNT SPAMMING"!!!! but never had the option to reword!!! again yet another kick for someone who obviously made an error! as you will probably be able to tell from all my other posts....not one is spam!!!!!!

So i guess you can kinda see why not everyone still uses the site as its us who are the genuine ones that are getting a slap on the wrist for others....

you may all think i am having a rant (which i am) but it just frustrates me that you feel that stopping links in posts will help?!?!

Another example....i want to link exchange with people...I have a page set up on my website for people to complete to be able to exchange....so i now have to have this as my signature!!! More work for me now...having to check on here every two mins for messages or replies......well some people just don’t have the time to do this. We are after all trying to run a business...

Rant over! I apologies if i have offended anyone but i had to get my point across after i was "ACCUSED!" of spamming! when i have referred a fair few members to this forum and have never spammed!!! But someone reported my thread as spam! Why not just send me a message and tell me!!!!!!!!!

Ok so this will prob get removed...but that is my feeling on the matter!!!!

RE: Spam Posters
I can see Moderns point, however I think I have an idea on some middle ground.

How about, obvious spammers are removed, but any posts with links in that are deemed as spam are not remove but 'amended' so they are not clickable?

That way people can still post links but if someone wants to visit a website they would have to cut and paste the link into their browser and if someone really wants to direct them to their website they can make the reference to their signature below.

I am sure there is a function to stop links being posted in posts but I am not sure if it kills sigs too.....

Or maybe a requried post count?

Actually the point of the forum is to help other members and exchange ideas, links, etc Its NOT just a forum to advertise !!!
Too many members want to join leave a few links and not get involved, This was never the intention when I set the forum up.... In your own words you have only clicked on one signature link so I dont think you have looked at, helped,or reviewed many of our other members websites...THATS what the forum is meant to be about !!!!

OK so I take it my 1 post about my specials ( 3 links in total ) was that spamming or not
I don't think I spam ..have to many posts to look though them all ..if I do plz tell so I am able to amend my ways
another option is to have a warning system 1/2/3 you're out

There is alredy a warning system, just check your posts and see it on the right hand side :-)

For specials I think it is a little tricky, depending on how the website is formatted.

If it has a search function then one main link could be provided with the product codes for the items on offer

If it doesn't them I cannot see any other way of letting people go straight tot he product other than links.
