Good News for Ebay Sellers
Good News for Ebay Sellers, Ebay have just announced the removal of the free Postage & Packaging policy which i know has been mentioned in the forum on previous posts. Just had the following email from ebay: In 2009 a free Postage & Packaging (P&P) policy was introduced in categories where excessive postage charges were a problem. Although buyers have responded positively, some sellers indicated that it is having a negative impact on their business and asked for alternative options to prevent excessive postage. Therefore, to help drive further sales while enabling sellers to continue running a successful business, the existing free P&P policy in all categories will be removed and replaced with maximum limits to P&P charges from 8 February 2010. As buyers continue to respond positively to free P&P, sellers who offer it on their fixed price listings will continue to receive a boost in search results I Hope this brings a smile to all you Ebay Sellers

RE: Good News for Ebay Sellers
Yes there will be a maximum a seller can charge and that will depend on the item they are selling, but it is still better than the old policy where you could not charge the buyer at all for postage on certain items like DVDs,Mobile Phone accessories,Video games.

RE: Good News for Ebay Sellers
Iagree, lets hope Ebay get the postage charges correct then otherwise their is no point as sellers will only have to add to their starting prices to cover the loss.

RE: Good News for Ebay Sellers
Its about time eBay start that. this will stop people listing products for 1p loads of times and being at the top the whole time PLUS, eBay dont charge fees on postage so people over inflated their postage to save money I really want to start an auction site that wont rip people off and will have someone to speak to if there is a problem Hosiery & socks for the whole family http://www.fashionablecrazes.com |

@fashcraz that's a great idea and there's no better time like the present, to launch an alternative to EBay.

RE: Good News for Ebay Sellers
I use http://www.ebid.co.uk and have found it to be an excellent alternative. I bought the £50 lifetime membership that gives you free listings and no final value fees (unless you add extras, which I do and it costs alot less than eBay).
They link nicely to Google shopping so all your products feature there aswell. Completely agree that the free P&P listings are a pain. I still charge postage rather than swapping to the free P&P option and I think I have suffered for not making the change. My rankings in search results are lower than some competitors that adopted the free P&P approach. http://www.studentfancydress.com / http://www.otleyrunfancydress.co.uk |

I had never heard of ebid untill I read your post, but looks good, I think I might also go for the £50 lifetime membership, will save me a fortune over the next few years. |

RE: Good News for Ebay Sellers
eBid has been growing for a few years and has a good community (made up mainly of people that left eBay for the same reasons we all complain). The price is fantatsic and you can open a handful of shops (not limited to just one) so you can optimise your store to specific products.
Definately a thumbs up from me. http://www.studentfancydress.com / http://www.otleyrunfancydress.co.uk |

Good review for Ebid, it's funny I never hear anyone saying 'good' things about Ebay these days...
