Do you visit the forum and leave ?

Do you visit the forum read a few posts and then leave ? Why ?
I have being looking at the stats on the forum over the last couple of months and noticed many members come on have a browse and then leave, If you have your own website then why not leave a short reply to the posts you have been reading, your website link will be left in your signature and as you were the last person to comment on the thread it will be your signature/website link which will be on the homepage of the forum, everybody knows the homepage is the landing page and gets more visits than any other page. So do not just read the post...make a comment and get noticed !!!

In these stats did it tell you how many first time visitors there are so you can see how many different people come here to just read or spam?

Yes the forum gets 1000,s of visitors every week who just read a few posts and move on, if everybody who visited the forum joined up it would have at least 50,000 members by now. But not everybody wants to join a forum so guests are more than welcome to visit, read a few posts and move on as they still see everybodys website links ( those who have made a post ) which gives all members more exposure for their own websites...
As far as members who join and make just one post, sometimes spam, thats a problem all forums get, I try to read all posts & delete any posts which I feel are spam.

I've just read this thread for the first time. I joined a couple of months ago, and have made a few comments. But often I have been on for just a few minutes, and left. In my case, I've often browsed through very quickly, due to lack of time, and I comment only when I feel that I have something genuine to add.

No doubt most visitors are not commenting, but perhaps a small proprotion are just dipping in and out at various times like I do. Perhaps that might explain part of the problem, but I will make more of an effort to get involved.

well you know about me .I have a folder with all forums in & open them all at 1 time and go though them reading all new posts.. I do admit I use the "View New Posts" button unless I want to start a new thread and pop in and out a few times a day

I pop in and out too, and use the new posts button :-)

I do not visit the forum that often, but whenever I do I always reply to one or two posts, seems a waste of time if you dont get involved

I do tend to read new posts, have a peep around and I do try to find something to reply to that will be of use to someone...
